Conference Hotel

Hotel Mont Febe, Yaounde, Cameroon. 

The official accommodation supplier for the TES Conference is Mont Febe Hotel and some rooms have been reserved however, participants are advised to book early as rooms go fast. 

About the Venue

Rooms are available at the hotel for the duration of the conference

Rates will be:

Standard room single -                         65,000 FCFA


Standard room double -                       85,000 FCFA


Executive room single -                        81,500 FCFA


Executive room double -                      101,500 FCFA

 

Rooms can be booked by the Conference secretariat and participants will be required to pay for their respective rooms on arrival. Please indicate on your registration form if you require a room. 

A limited number of single rooms are available at a discounted rate of  65,000 FCFA (Bed and breakfast), until the 20 February 2017, after which normal rates apply. 

In an effort to provide affordable hotel room options for the conference attendees, we have listed below alternative lodging options from which participants could chose from. 

Meumi Hotel 

This hotel is approximately about 7.3km (16mins away with no traffic) away from the hotel venue.

Standard Room with breakfast -           25,000 FCFA


Hotel Laginague 

This hotel is approximately 3.6km (9mins with no traffic) away from the conference location. 

Standard Room with breakfast -           35,000 FCFA


Hotel Meumi Palace 

This hotel is approximately about 3.9km (10mins away with no traffic) away from the conference location. 

Standard Room with breakfast -           35,000 FCFA


Hotel Le Diplomat 

This hotel is approximately 3.1km (6mins away with no traffic) away from the conference location.

Standard Room with breakfast -           55,000 FCFA

 

Participants wishing to stay in any of the hotels mentioned above are advised to book early, and the conference secretariat are on hand to help with this. Please be aware that due to the distance of these hotels and in order to avoid lateness due to traffic, participants are advised to make their way to the conference location early enough. The main form of transportation to the venue is by taxi with a standard fare of 300FCFA. 

Getting there

Hotel Shuttle

Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport is about 30km away from Mont Febe Hotel. The hotel offers a free airport shuttle service to all customers to the hotel and vice versa. Reservations are highly suggested. 

Taxi

A taxi is the most practical form of transportation within the city. Taxis are available for hire at the hotel 24/7. A taxi from the airport to the hotel is 10 000 FCFA per day and 15 000 FCFA at night).

Regarding transportation to the other hotels, there are always taxis at the airport which participants could make use of. The standard fare to pay from the airport is 10,000 FCFA.

Travel Tips

Visa 

We advise all participants to make note of the following travel tips:

  • All participants are required to make their own travel arrangements.
  • Please be sure that your enrolment at the symposium is confirmed before making your hotel and travel reservations.

All foreigners should obtain their entry visa to Cameroon from the  Cameroon Embassies in their respective countries. Please note that you can not obtain an Entry-visa for Cameroon at the airport. 

Airport 

Inbound flights will arrive at Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport which is the main international airport for participants to travel to. 

Taxi 

The most practical and feasible form of transportation within the city is by taxi (yellow in colour) which is the main form of public transport. Depending on the length of the journey, the standard fare for taxis is 250 FCFA ($0.5 US). In other cases, a taxi can be rented for an hour for a sum of 3000 FCFA ($4 US). 

Communication

Cell phone companies operating in Cameroon are MTN, Orange, Nextel and CAMTEL. Sim cards for either operator can easily be purchased from authorised selling points available around the city.

Vaccination and other health information 

It is recommended that all participants have all their necessary vaccinations before travelling to Cameroon. Vaccination against yellow fever is a prerequisite for entry into Cameroon. An updated vaccination card is checked upon arrival at the airport. 

Languages 

The official languages in Cameroon are French and English, with French being the most spoken, especially in the capital city, Yaounde. 

Change

The currency used in Cameroon is the Central Africa CFA Francs.

Food 

One thing Cameroon is known for is the vast variety of dishes eaten in the country. There are many restaurants which serve both local and international dishes with many different styles of cuisine represented, including Lebanese, Asian, African and European. The Conference location is in close proximity to a variety of restaurants and bars.
